Alice’s walk for their fair start!
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alice Lenehan, I’m a 5th year in the institute of education. I want to raise €3000 to help build the school in South Africa with Mellon educate and bring school supply’s, I have already covered my travel expenses. Please sponsor me to walk a marathon (40km)on Sunday the 7th of November. I will be walking from Howth head to Bray head.
Did you know 3 out of every 4 children aged 10 living in South Africa cannot read? And if they cannot read, they cannot write. Whatever chance have these children have to make their lives better, not being able to read or write, must put them at a big disadvantage. Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”.
Education is something I have the privilage to take for granted. In fact, I consider an education to be a basic human right. Children living South Africa do not have this privilege or this right. I want to help to change this fact. I am a volunteer on the Niall Mellon Educate Programne. We are going to South Africa in November to build 2 new schools in one week! I am one of the 300 volunteers helping the builders, carpenters, bricks layers, electricians and plumbers that all volunteer their time every year in this programme . I will be carrying, mixing, painting or doing whatever I’m told to make this project a success. I will also be helping the children learn to read in the brand new buddy literacy programne. I am so excited for my adventure and so happy to help these children who just want a fair start in life like the rest of us. To start with an education.
Please help me by supporting my challenge . Even the smallest donation help to make a huge diffrence in these childrens futures. Thank you very much for your support!!!
