Hello everyone, my name is Lindsey Loyd and I’m raising funds on behalf of my wife, Alice Loyd. As of Friday, she had the onset of symptoms of a stroke as we were celebrating our 9-year wedding anniversary at a St. Louis Cardinals game. We left in the bottom of the sixth because she wasn’t feeling well. I took her to Mount Vernon, Illinois, St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was admitted for two days and sat 14 hours in the emergency room with no answers. The stroke doctor showed some concerns about Alice’s condition, but the neurologist tried to blame it on Alice’s vaping. Alice was experiencing droopiness on the right side of her face, weakness in her dominant right arm, and dominant leg. They discharged her from the hospital Sunday evening to return to normal activities as tolerated, with just a follow-up with her primary physician. We called her primary, and unfortunately, they couldn’t get her in until October 3 but put her on a cancellation list to be notified of any cancellations to be seen sooner. Her hematologist was contacted because Alice has been diagnosed with a rare blood mutation that causes her blood to clot. The hematologist said that he would continue his follow-up with her in three months but didn’t seem too concerned about her condition. Alice returned to work Tuesday after being discharged Sunday with light duty as tolerated. The workplace accommodated Alice’s needs, giving her just desk work to do. Alice started experiencing high blood pressure at work and became unresponsive. She was taken by emergency vehicle to the Centralia emergency room, where she was given a CT scan and medication to break up any blood clots that might be in her blood, and then admitted to St. Louis University of Medicine. She will be without work and seeking a lot of neurological doctor visits and will have to be admitted into an extreme physical therapy facility to regain strength to return to her work as a certified nurse's assistant, caring for the elderly. Alice isn’t just my wife. She is a mother of four, a grandmother of two, somebody’s sister, somebody’s cousin, somebody’s niece, and somebody’s daughter. She has a long road ahead of her, and I’ll have to be taking off a lot of work to make sure she’s getting to her appointments. Anything can help. Thank you, and God bless.
