Hey there! It's Alice here, I'm a midwife in Adelaide & you guessed it, I absolutely love my job helping women and their families meet their babies.
It only makes sense to want to help those living in a low resourced country birthing with high rates of maternal mortality and morbidity rates. One woman dies every 2 minutes in childbirth or from a pregnancy related complications. In Cambodia (2020) there were 218 deaths per 100,000 live births, in comparison to 3 deaths per 100,000 in Australia (2020).
The 2H project is a organisation Connecting health professionals in Australia with the frontline of maternal care in a developing country like Cambodia. Most pregnancy and birthing complications that result in death are preventable or treatable. Improving the knowledge and amount of skilled health professionals is key to better outcomes.
Through the 2H project I already have the privilege of helping mentor some amazing midwife's at the O'Chra Health Centre, in the Pailin Province via zoom meetings. In November 2025 I plan to volunteer my time to go to Cambodia with the 2H project, to help deliver training to Cambodian midwives.
I will be paying my own way, accommodation ect for the trip, however I am fund-raising $3,000 for the support of the education program, and 2H foundation.
