I am in my final year at Queen's, and finishing up my degree in Religious Studies, History, and Gender & Sexuality. I'm moving on to ~ bigger things ~ and this two month internship in Delhi, India is my first step. BUT I need your help, so read on...
What is QPID?
I am an India summer intern for Queen's Project on International Development (QPID), a student-run, not-for-profit organization here at Queen's. QPID supports both local and international sustainable development projects, in order to raise awareness and think critically about development. I am grateful to be a part of this organization, because it is a truly impactful student initiative that has pushed me to think about how development work impacts those around us, and how we can constantly work to improve it. I have seen the local impact that QPID has here in Kingston, and I am looking forward to supporting QPID's cause in Delhi.
Why India?
I will be working for VIDYA , a local NGO that QPID has partnered with. VIDYA's mission is to provide education to less-priviledged groups in India, particularly women and children. VIDYA is a fantasic organization that maintains locally-minded, sustainable development initiatives as its core focus.
I have a particular interest in development work that empowers women. Through working for VIDYA, I will be able to gain valuable experience from an exemplary organization in the field of work I plan to pursue. This internship is an immense learning opportunity, and an investment in pursuing development work in the future.
Why Donate?
Each summer intern is responsible for fundraising $3000 - this is an investment in QPID, and allows them to support projects like mine, as well as future projects. This is only a small piece of the India project cost, and will go towards ensuring QPID can continue to fund projects, and raise awareness about development. By donating, you are supporting QPID's commitment to sustainable, responsible development initiatives, and its ability to create opportunity for myself and future interns.
