Hi, my name is Alex, I'm 14 and am currently a year 9 pupil at Lavington School in Wiltshire.

My school has recently given me an amazing opportunity to go on a Camp International expedition to Peru in 2026.

Camp International does expeditions like this all over the world. I will be away for 4 weeks, and during this time will travel to different camps where we will be supporting local rural communities, helping build and improve community infrastructures, such as local schools, toilets and community buildings. We will also spend some time supporting local environmental projects working with locals planting trees and protecting the wildlife.

Peru Project Highlights between 2015 and 2022

70 - Toilets have been built

10 - guinea Pig Barns constructed

1000 - trees planted

17 - greenhouses constructed

14 - cattle sheds built

13 - homes built for families

15 - smokeless fuel efficient stoves built

Towards the the end of the trip we have also been given an amazing opportunity to trek to Machu Pichu.

As well as helping to contribute to local community projects, I am looking forward to learning more about the Peruvian culture and way of life. As well as developing important life skills not just on the trip but on the lead up to it.

Another aspect of the trip is that I need to raise as much of the money to go myself as I can. I need to raise £4,700, this is a lot of money and is going to be hard work. I currently plan on raising the money through sponsored events, cake sales, car boot sales, craft markets doing odd jobs for family and friends.

Any donation would be really appreciated, and will help me to go on this amazing trip, and support the rural Peruvian communities.
