Hi, my name is Stephanie and I'm the older sister of Alexander Bartley. On December 14th Alex was the victim of a car accident that has left him permanently paralyzed from the shoulders down. Our family has traveled from all over to North Carolina where Alex is in the Trauma ICU. As a family we're asking for your support for medical bills Alex will accrue, financial support for therapies he'll need and future technological devices that will help him regain some independence as well as future transport to Boston where he will be at Spaulding for spinal rehab. Alex is only 18 years old and has a full life left to live, and we're trying to do everything we can to make this new transition as comfortable as possible for him. He has already fought thru the flu, pneumonia, a collapsed lung, being intubated and now has a trach.  He's a fighter and we're here fighting right beside him. 1/20/23 Update - I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed/shared his GoFundMe up until this point. It's been one of the positive things that we've been excited to check together since this happened. It's beautiful when community shows up in times of need. Alex is moving along as best as he can. He is in a regular room at the hospital and recently had his trach removed! He has even been able to give a little (but big) wiggle in his left arm!! The next step is flying him to Massachusetts where he will be living with me (Stephanie) until we can get him comfortable in a place of their own. Expenses continue to add up and will only continue.
