Hello friends and family!

This January I will be traveling to Guatemala for a week with the organization Hearts in Motion and my University! Hearts in Motion is an organization that works to improve the lives of those in Central America. Here is a quote from their website:

"Today, Hearts in Motion is in an excellent position to address quality of life issues in Central America, especially Guatemala and Honduras. Since 1990, Hearts In Motion has been involved in human services in Central America, recognized by politicians and other organizations as dependable, resourceful and compassionate. H.I.M. is known and respected by a network of government agencies and service organizations. "

While on the week long trip, my group and I will be travelling from village to village, helping as much as we can. We will be providing health education, assessing villagers, bringing water purification systems, bringing books and toys for the children, and doing everything we can to improve their situations. We will also get the chance to travel to local hospitals and clinics to assist as much as possible and gain hands-on learning experience in the field.

I ask my friends and family to please consider donating to my trip, as it is seperate from my tuition and is not covered by any financial aid or scholarships. The total cost of the trip is $2300. If I am able to raise more than this amount any extra donations will go towards purchasing books, toys, and supplies for villagers.

I am so incredibly excited for this experience! Students who have previously attended this trip have had life-changing experiences that they will never forget and I cannot wait to do the same.
