Alexander Ramos Relief Fund

Hello, my name is Ron Ramos and my wife is Kelly. We raising money for our son Alexander who was in a horrible scooter accident. He is presently in The ICU and has been diagnosed with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).

On May 28th of this year, Alex was riding an electric scooter when he hit an obstacle in the sidewalk causing him to travel nearly 35ft before landing on the cement. During the fall he traveled an overall estimated 75 ft before hitting his head on the cement. He sustained 2 fractures on the back of his head, one fracture on his face near the bridge of his nose as well as several abrasions and lacerations on various parts of the body. The force of the impact caused significant damage to the frontal lobe of the brain.

Alex Spent the first 7 days in a coma, during that time he ended up having a portion of his skull bone removed to allow for the brain to swell and not cause any further damage.
He has had tubes draining the excess fluids from his head as well as having a spinal tap to remove fluids from there as well.

After about 4 weeks, several surgeries and various other medical procedures, Alex was able to get well enough to find the strength to move to a rehabilitation facility.

After 2 weeks of rehab, Alex started experiencing what is called "Neuro-storming". This is where your brain has trouble being able to regulate the Fight or Flight systems in the body and becomes confused. These episodes placed Alex back in the ICU where he underwent several tests to confirm that he wasn't fighting another infection or having issues with pressure on the brain.

The neuro-storming causes an extremely high fever and elevated heart rates. To the degree, of which, Alex has to be sedated.

At the time of preparing this, the neuro-storming has lasted for 4 weeks now and due to the extended, period of time on the breathing tube during this time, Alex had to have the Traceatomy placed back in.

He is not sedated at the moment and is starting to communicate from time to time although he has not spoken in some time.

We are hopeful that Alex will fight through the storm and get back to rehab very soon. Once there he will have an estimated 6 weeks before coming home. Until then we will have several things we will need to complete to make the home ready for him.

With the understanding that Alex will not be able to work, for up to 2 years or more, we are seeking to find assistance in providing Alex the opportunity to cover the daily cost of living expenses such as food, clothing and therapy equipment.

We have been blessed with a tremendous amount of support from friends and family therefore we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and ultimate gratitude to all that have been there for us.

If you could please consider donating to our fundraiser we would be eternally grateful for your kindness and generosity.

thank you,
Ron and Kelly Ramos
