Alex Schueppert's Eagle Project: Community Libraries
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alex Schueppert, and I’m an Eagle Scout candidate on a mission to expand access to literature for underserved communities in Austin. Many hardworking individuals, including those experiencing homelessness and financial hardships, face barriers to education and inspiration simply because traditional libraries aren’t always accessible. My project will change that by creating 3–6 durable, weather-resistant outdoor community libraries in partnership with Trinity Center and other charitable organizations located in Downtown Austin.
The Vision:
Imagine stepping outside and finding a welcoming, open-air library stocked with books donated by neighbors, local schools, and community groups. These outdoor libraries will be designed for all ages and reading levels—places where anyone can borrow a book, share stories, spark imagination, and learn at their leisure. By repurposing donated books, we not only promote literacy but also embrace sustainability and reduce waste.
How Your Support Makes a Difference:
Your generosity will help cover the estimated project costs of approximately $2,250. This funding will provide:
Materials: Quality lumber, weatherproof paint, pressure-treated posts, and other construction essentials.
Supplies & Safety: Tools, protective gear, and supplementary supplies to ensure a safe and smooth build.
Project Essentials: Transportation logistics (i.e., gas), volunteer refreshments, and promotional materials to spread the word.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to creating a lasting resource for the community—a beacon of knowledge available 24/7.
Please note that any leftover donations collected will be given directly to my charitable beneficiary, Trinity Center, to further support their mission and community activities for the homeless.
A Community-Led Effort:
This project isn’t just about books—it's about community connection. I am proud to lead volunteers from Troop 30, along with support from the Trinity Center and the Bee Cave Chapter of the Order of the Arrow. Together, we’ll build not just structures but also trust, hope, and the opportunity for lifelong learning in every part of our community.
Join Us:
By donating to the Downtown Austin Outdoor Community Libraries Eagle Project, you’re investing in a future where everyone has the power and opportunity to learn, grow, and connect. Please share our story and help us spread the love for reading across our city.
Thank you for supporting this transformative project and for believing in the power of community, literacy, and shared dreams.
Yours in Scouting,
Alex Schueppert, Eagle Scout Candidate
