Alex Prizgintas: Disrupting the Ordinary
Donation protected
My name is Alex Prizgintas, and those who follow my work may know one or both of my passions as a musician and historian residing in New York's Hudson Valley. However, these two facets cross paths in the many events that I organize with libraries, senior centers, and community venues across New York and New Jersey. Not only is this my main profession, but it has also become an important cornerstone of experience and networking with our rich community. From a small beginning, I now successfully manage between 150 to 180 engagements per year, in great part to those who continuously attend and support this work to make it available for others.
Now, I am excited to offer a new edge that will bring my capabilities as a historian and musician to the next level. This year, I was honored to be awarded a Sustainable Arts Program grant from the Orange County New York Arts Council (SAP). This program guarantees $1,000 for each awardee in addition to offering five training sessions that help guide developing artists like myself through more effective ways to work as individuals and members of a vibrant community. Any additional funds requested above the initial $1,000 involve raising 50% on my own part. With this in mind, I humbly ask for your support. Where last year's brand of "Uber Arts: Delivering Food for the Soul" involved my trademark of combining looped cello tunes enhanced with guitar effect pedals augmented with historical narrations that bridge history and harmony together, this year's project titled "Disrupting the Ordinary" will add visual elements to both my concerts and related projects such as my "Travelogues of Orange County" series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKKTrgSk0cA. This initial $500 fundraiser, along with other sources of funding that I am actively coordinating, will help to make this project driven by both music and history a reality. Any donation will certainly help towards this goal. Thank you for taking a few moments to consider my work.
