Alex and Jen's Adoption Fund

Donation protected
Both Alex and I have always seen ourselves as parents one day. We were raised to celebrate traditions, family, and togetherness. After meeting during welcome week of our first year of college, we fell in love. Alex and I dreamed of the day that we could have our very own family to build traditions and create memorable chaos. When I think of the future, I see the kind of household we will have...compassionate, loving, honest and full of laughter; never a dull moment. We both have family members who have been blessed to grow their families through adoption and we find it inspiring and admirable. Because of this, Alex and I have always wanted to make adoption a part of our story, we just didn’t think it may be our only way to add to our family.

After 8 years of dating, Alex and I married on August 22, 2015 and immediately decided to start our family. Very soon we discovered that having children naturally would not be easy for us. In December 2015 we went in to the doctors and I was diagnosed with PCOS, which is a condition that keeps your body from ovulating (a pretty important part of getting pregnant). The doctor started me on a less aggressive fertility medication and we began tracking ovulations and implementing dietary/lifestyle changes. In August of 2016, approximately one week before our 1st wedding anniversary, I found out I was pregnant! Alex and I were so excited! However, our excitement was short lived. A few days later I woke to cramping and spotting. The doctor said to come in to have labs drawn and we discovered my progesterone levels had dropped immensely, as did the HcG levels...I was having a miscarriage. Those few days following the miscarriage were probably the hardest for Alex and I, but we did not give up hope.

In November of 2016 we found out I was pregnant again. Alex was hesitant to get excited, but I was ecstatic. I saw my doctor more frequently to ensure things would be progressing. Sadly, a few weeks later I had another miscarriage. It was at that time we decided to stop all medications. I adjusted my diet and started to ovulate naturally. We continued to try each month, tracking ovulation, following a fertility diet and lifestyle, however, there has not been any success. Since adoption has always been a part of our plan, it seemed like a good time to move forward.

In August 2017 we attended an informational adoption meeting at Catholic Charities of Green Bay and signed up for their wait list. I am happy to report that we are officially in the infant adoption program and wanted to get started on the home study as soon as possible. As many of you may know, adoption is a long and expensive process. Although Alex and I try not to ask for much and like to be as independent as possible this is a special circumstance where we are asking family and friends to help us out and support our newest adventure. The upfront costs and inspections are coming up quickly and if there is anyway you would be able to help we would greatly appreciate it. If you are unable to donate we still ask that you send some positive thoughts, vibes and prayers our way as we begin this journey. I can’t wait to update you on our progress. Thank you for the support and we love you all :)
