Albert Drive Fire Relief
Donation protected
Help up to 40 families affected by the Albert Drive tenement fire. Fortunately there were no casualties but people left their homes in the middle of the night with few belongings. Local charities, schools and religious organisations are filling the gaps as the Council looks to rehouse families. But families need clothing, day to day essentials, and money to get them through the next few weeks. The Community Council and other organisations has set this campaign up and we really hope that everyone that reads this can give even one pound.

Update 19th Nov
We’ve reached £1000 in less than 24 hours… wow!
Thank you so much for the donations.
An update on those affected:
Most of the families have been allowed to return to their homes. 12 homes are still affected of which 5-6 families will possibly be able to return to their homes, sooner than the others. 6 families are are currently long term homeless. It is these families the Albert Drive Relief effort will focus on. All these families are currently subject to displacement. Important
Questions About How Donations Will be Collected and Spent:
Who you are and where you’re from?
Ameen Mohammed, Chair of the Pollokshields Community Council. Born and raised in the wider affected area. I am a Pharmacist by day job. The purpose of this campaign is that the local organisations have a better way of working together.
Relationship or contact to the parties that the funds are being raised for?
Residents of Pollokshields.
How the funds will be spent?
Lists have been created by volunteers (from local organisations e.g. community councillors, local mosques and charities) as to what provisions are required. This has been done by speaking directly to persons/families that have been affected. The most up to date information we have is that 3 possibly 6 families are long term displaced. Donations will be focused on these families.
What are the withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiaries?
Discussions with volunteers are underway to decide what nominated bank account should be used to ensure good governance. If donations are needed urgently, then I have a additional personal account that has no funds which can be used solely for this campaign. Families will likely be given the monies by a combination of bank payment and cash hand outs. Everything will be documented (details of recipient and amount given). We want to ensure full transparency.
Update - 4th Dec
Hello everyone,
I am in the process of being 'verified' by GoFundMe. Once that's complete the donations will be accessed by me and then we can start distributing monies within the next 7 days (fingers crossed checks all go well).
Thanks again for showing so much support :)
