Albatross & Icon Fundraiser for Staff

To our wonderful, amazing and sexy Albatross/Icon community: First, we all miss seeing your faces! Needing to close the doors on all of our homes away from home has been such a tragedy. We love being part of a safe and fun place for us queers and allies of Queens (and beyond) to gather, party and spread our love. Second, as is the case with many other Americans right now, Governor Cuomo's decision to close bars and restaurants has left us out of work, with no regular income. We are all working hard to get ourselves enrolled in unemployment, but as you might have been hearing, the system is overwhelmed with the number of people trying to collect unemployment at this time. Unfortunately to make things worse, not all of our staff qualify including DJ’s, Freelancers and Drag Queens. We love them and we miss them (we know you do too!) Us bartenders got together to discuss these issues and decided to try putting together a GoFundMe to see if we could raise some money for the staff at both Albatross and Icon. A portion of what we raise collectively will also go to our beloved co workers as mentioned above - so although our goal may seem a bit high, there are a lot of us struggling in the Icon & Albatross family with the sudden closure of our second homes that took away our stability. This has been such a difficult time for all of us, but we hope that you can find it in your hearts to throw a little money our way to help us get through this tragic time of uncertainty - anything helps, seriously. What is certain, however, is our promise of getting you drunk again the minute those doors reopen so get those livers ready! We love and miss you all. Thank you to each and everyone of you that has reached out and shown us support during this time. Even if you can’t donate, those words of kindness have done more than you know.
