Hi, my name is Hayley and I am fundraising for the legal representation of my youngest daughter. All funds raised will be going towards her legal team, the legal process, counselling and time I need to takeoff work to facilitate these appointments. Some of you already know that we have been dealing with family court proceedings since she was almost a year old. It has now been nine years and thousands of dollars in an attempt to facilitate healthy and safe parenting time. We were hopeful that Alba would start to enjoy her parenting time with her other parent but time and time again she would make extremely concerning allegations of severe emotional abuse, physical abuse, neglect and being witness to domestic violence among other allegations. One of these instances of neglect resulted in her having to be admitted to the paediatric intensive care unit in Edmonton. She now has a life long battle of navigating the world with these emotional and mental scars.

Leading up to Christmas of 2023 Alba’s suicidal ideation was extremely heightened. She expressed many concerns to her friends, family and teachers at school on a daily basis as she was feeling the pressure build to spend Christmas holidays with the other parent. Christmas has sadly become a very traumatic and triggering time for her because of this. After many nights of not sleeping due to night terrors, the calm before the storm hit. She was giving me her belongings to remember her by. She told me it would be fine she would go willingly without a fight this time but she would kill herself once she was there.

I took her to the emergency department and had her assessed. The physician, psychologist, nurses and police felt it was not in her best interest to attend parenting time and strongly encouraged me to have the visitation order changed. Much easier said than done. From December of 2024 alone I have exhausted 18 thousand in legal fees. The reality is this is only the beginning. As a single parent of two children I’m trying my very best to keep everything together for my two children. I had to put a pause on my education during the pandemic so I am currently also finishing up my schooling and working. I have provided my safety seat technician services completely free of charge over the years so that everyone in our community had access. I have worked in Healthcare for over 12 years providing direct care to our aging population with love and compassion despite all of the chaos in my personal life.

I am now asking if our community can help us in our time of need. To help get Alba on to the road to recovery as this could literally save her life.
