Alana & Poppy’s Story.

2020 was a year which hit everyone hard with Covid. For many couples it was a year in which they were fortunate enough to welcome an addition to the family. Alana had George her 1st Child 18 years ago and after trying and losing many babies she had come to terms with no longer being able to conceive.

Then a miracle happened she found out in October 2020 that she had become pregnant, and in August 2021 Poppy came into the world. This beautiful little girl bought a ray of sunshine to Alana and her family especially after losing her brother Connaugh to Cancer.
3 years ago on Sunday 2nd October Connaugh passed away 2 weeks prior to his 21st Birthday on the 17th October, having had an early 21st Birthday Celebration on the 24th of September. This has led to Alana raising awareness and funds for Cancer which is something close to her heart.

In July this year Poppy became ill, following the usual visits to the doctors and a visit to the hospital they suggested this was a viral infection and would go in time. Poppy had her 1st Birthday, and although not her usual self she managed to get through the day with a Birthday Cake smash, and wonderful photos taken to treasure.
Within a few days Poppy went back to being ill, being sick, sleeping and generally lethargic. Poppy has become weaker over time and then a couple of weeks ago Alana had found a lump on her neck, again she went back to the doctors who supplied more tablets believing it may be her glands that had swollen up due to a viral infection. Last week Alana went back to doctors again as Poppy was being sick and struggled to breath, Steroids were provided which helped Poppy as she was herself for a couple of days which was wonderful for Alana, her old Pop’s back. Few days later and Poppy was unwell again, but she carried on with the inhaler waiting for the appointment for a Paediatrician in the middle of October.

Alana and Poppy had a lovely day walking by the river and watching the steam trains go past on Saturday, by Sunday night Alana had noticed the lump on Poppy’s neck had got bigger, and a rash had appeared on her body which the hospital identified as Petechiae.

Monday she rang the doctors again, they saw Poppy and sent her straight to hospital for tests, within 24 hours they had found Poppy has a malignant tumour, further tests are being carried out on her lungs and they are waiting the results, this is a difficult time as this week the 1st October would be the day the family would be together to celebrate the life of Connaugh(brother) who would have been 24.

Alana works part time for a company, so she can have quality time with Poppy as well as working to pay her normal household bills, etc.

We have created this fund to try and help alleviate the stress of not being able to work, to help to cover the costs associated with hospitals, car parks, meals etc, and to enable Alana to have quality time with Poppy her baby and all that is required of being a parent

If this is the avenue, you choose to help, thank you, and we send Alana and Poppy our love, support and Prayers.

A message I know is strong with Alana any lumps you find do not ignore chase these up with your doctors, especially if you do not feel something is right.
