Alan (Runs) for Planned Parenthood — Westbrook 5K on Oct. 27

Hi! For those who don't know me, I'm Alan, and I live in Westbrook, Maine, with my fat cat and a growing collection of Pokémon memorabilia. I'm also a runner, hiker, and believer in good causes.

That's why I've signed up to run the (Monsters) Run the River 5K in downtown Westbrook on Sunday, Oct. 27, just nine days before Election Day. This election year, reproductive freedom is in jeopardy, and I firmly believe we need to support a person's right to choose what they can do with their own bodies — and this work starts at home.

That's why I've decided to seek sponsorships for the 5K to raise money for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Planned Parenthood is incredibly important to both my physical and mental health. It is a space where I, and others like me, can go for vital — NECESSARY — health care services without judgment and know they can receive the care they need at an affordable cost.

That said, I will not win this 5K (lol). Just know that any money you choose to donate, regardless, will go toward a good cause, and one in which I — and I hope, you! — firmly believe. Sponsors will have their names written on my running shirt!
