Alamosa Volunteer Search and Rescue (AVSAR) is an all Volunteer Search and Rescue team based in Alamosa, CO. The bulk of our missions take place on the Mt. Blanca massif, which is home to 3 of Colorado's 14,000ft peaks (Blanca, Little Bear and Ellingwood), that are visited by locals and tourists alike. Our team is solely funded by Donations and Fundriasing Efforts. For the past 12 years the team has been relying on a 1982 Ford Ambulance that has been converted to our search and Rescue vehicle. At 37 years young, our ambulance has decided to call it quits. Currently, we are without a team Rescue vehicle to respond to missions. Being without a team vehicle, our mission response time slows and we are not able to do our Preventative Search and Rescue (PSAR) education to our community. We are desperately trying to raise funds to purchase a new rescue vehicle, that could hopefully last us another 20years. We are hoping to raise enough funds to purchase a 3/4ton truck/van that could seat up to 6 team members in the cab, as well as haul and store all of our rescue gear. Both the families of subjects and the team greatly appreciate your generosity.
