Help the Alabaster raid victims!

These kids were torn away from their fathers by ICE. Help us stop family separations right here in Alabama!

The racist and vicious policies of the current government seek to further criminalize hard working immigrants in Alabama. Adelante Alabama Worker Center, the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ACIJ) and the Hispanic Interest of Alabama (¡HICA!) are working together, directly with affected people, to fight back against this wing of white supremacy.

Early in the morning on June 28, dozens of Latino immigrant workers gathered at a popular gas station in Alabaster, Alabama to meet up with their crews and eat breakfast before heading off to a long, hard day of work at construction, roofing, and painting job sites all over the Birmingham area. Suddenly, ICE agents in unmarked vehicles began stopping work vans and asking workers for their papers. They cuffed and arrested multiple workers. At least five of the workers are still detained in remote jails and for-profit detention centers in Louisiana.

These workers were torn away from their families, many of whom have lived in Alabama for many years. They were the primary breadwinners for their spouses and young children, who are now struggling to get by without their partners and fathers. Some have children with serious medical conditions that require extensive care. Local immigrants' rights organizations are working to secure legal representation and other support for the workers and their families, and seek their immediate release on bond. Please donate $5, $50, or $500 - whatever you can to help reunite these families by contributing toward the cost of immigration bonds (which often exceed $10,000) and providing for the families' emergency needs (food, bills, and other necessities) while they are separated. Every cent donated will go directly to the Alabaster raid victims and their families.

In the interest of transparency, the funds for this campaign will go to one of the affected people, Luciano Aguirre, and he will make sure that the funds are distributed to the affected families. We are withholding the names of other people affected to protect their safety and privacy.
