Andrew Michael Scott, a resident of White Plains, NY, passed away at his home on Friday, July 11, 2025 from glioblastoma. He was the loving and beloved husband of Bridget Scott (née Henry) and father to his four children: Catherine, Andrew, Edward, and Jane Scott.
Andrew was born January 11, 1971 in Baldwin, NY, to the late John and Jeanne Marie Scott. He is survived by his siblings: Thomas Scott (Colette), Mary Anne Canigiani (Joseph), Stephen Scott (Susan), Catherine Goon, Margaret Anderson (William), and Nora Dorso (Michael). He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Barabara Henry, as well as his wife’s siblings: Ann Henry, Maura Barbour (Robert), Cynthia Kantor (John), Sheila Cecil (Richard), Louis Henry (Emily), and Catherine Henry. Andrew was the favorite uncle of his many adoring nieces and nephews from both the Scott and Henry families. He was also predeceased by his sister Barbara Scott and father-in-law Louis Henry.
Andrew earned his bachelor’s magna cum laude and master’s degrees in history from C.W. Post College (LIU Post). He devoted his professional life to education, teaching history at Pelham Memorial High School in Pelham, NY, for over two decades. He was honored by the Class of 2023 with the annual PMHS Faculty Service Award. He had earlier been recognized for his excellence in the classroom when Westchester Magazine named him one of the county’s best teachers in 2010. Prior to Pelham, Andrew taught for several years at Commack High School on Long Island. Through his passion for history and teaching, he touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
A long-time bagpiper, Andrew was an inaugural member of the Pelham Regional Pipe Band. He previously played with the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes and Drums for many years.
Andrew lived a life of deep devotion to his Catholic faith and was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Scarsdale, NY since marrying there in 2003.
Those who knew Andrew admired him for his intelligence, sincerity, and wit. He will be remembered as an exemplary husband and father, gifted teacher, talented musician, faithful Catholic, and in all things a true gentleman whose steadfastness was always balanced by kindness.
A wake will be held at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Homes in Scarsdale, NY, on Wednesday, July 16, and Thursday, July 17, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scarsdale, NY. Internment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains, NY 10603.
