Yesterday ((May 10th 2025) Akram wrote me the following:

"I am 46 years old, married and have a son and three daughters.

We live in Gaza, which is being subjected to a brutal, destructive, and deadly war. This is not a war; it is a moral and humanitarian collapse unprecedented in the history of all of humanity.

We live in an unjust world filled with contradictions, governed by self-interest.

I appeal to humanity, or the remnants of humanity, if any exist.

My own suffering with illness and displacement has begun. I suffer from pain from a herniated disc, tendonitis in my left hand, and nerve pain. Sometimes, I am unable to move normally.

We were displaced on October 7th, and since that day, we have been displaced from one region to another and from one place to another, nearly ten times. We have tasted the bitterness and pain of displacement, homelessness, hunger, and disease, which have worsened day by day.

We still sleep in tents made of plastic, cloth, and wood, which we move with us from place to place. We sleep on sand, cook our food over firewood, and eat in utensils unfit for animals. Not to mention the bigger problem: the lack of clean drinking water. We may have to stand for hours to fetch water and transport it over long distances, which can take a long time.

Thank God for everything.

The commercial crossings with the Gaza Strip have been closed for nearly two months. Everything is running out of Gaza at an alarming rate. No food, flour, or medicine enters Gaza, not even fuel or cooking gas. The goods available in Gaza's markets are extremely expensive and their prices are exorbitant, and most people cannot afford to buy or afford them.

We have become unable to meet even our most basic needs because of the war and disease.

My family has gone through very long and difficult days and nights.

My home was destroyed and I cannot reach it. My friends were killed. My farm, my source of livelihood, was burned down. We are burdened with worries and psychological illnesses. My children are hungry. I appeal to humanity and the free people of this world to help me and my family leave Gaza so that we can escape the war of extermination, killing, displacement, and hunger. Help me provide some food and medicine for my children, and help me undergo spinal surgery so that I can return to living my life normally, without pain, without suffering, without war. Thank you very much."

On July 1, 2025, Akram added the following:

"Save Akram and his family from hunger...

Save us from hunger, disease, and war...

After more than twenty months, the war on Gaza continues, and my family and I are still suffering.

My family of 35 has no resources, no food, and no medicine other than your donations in the past weeks. Two members of the same family have died in the last two months due to bombing, and my aunt died this week due to lack of medicine and food. My mother and sister are left with the grandchildren and the rest of the extended family, and they depend on us to provide them with food, medicine, and clothing."
