This July, a small team of Australian mums and teens will travel to Bangalore as part of the Akka Project, partnering with Parikrma Humanity Foundation to support girls and young people from 99 slum communities. Our 2026 fundraising focuses on two projects that we will implement when we arrive in India.

Project 1: Period Dignity for Teen Girls and Mothers

Too many girls miss school every month because they don’t have access to safe, sustainable period products. We are raising funds to provide period underwear, sanitary items and practical education so girls can attend school with confidence and consistency. Just $30 supports one Indian teen with three sets of period underwear, giving her a reliable, reusable option she can count on every month. We will also be supplying period underwear to mothers in the community to honour their dignity and wellbeing.

Project 2: An Outdoor Learning Classroom for Year 10–12 Students

The senior students currently learn in cramped brick rooms and converted storage containers with little airflow and corrugated iron roofs that trap heat. For teens who already live in overcrowded slum conditions, space matters. Open air, shade and room to breathe make a profound difference to their ability to focus, create and imagine their futures. We are transforming the small area behind their classrooms, currently used to store boxes and rubbish, into an outdoor learning space designed by the teens themselves. This will become a cooler, more inspiring environment for study, collaboration and creative thinking in their final years of school.

Every donation directly supports these two projects and helps us deliver dignity, space and opportunity to girls and young people in Bangalore.
