Ajuda o Vale do Rodrigo a renascer!

O Vale do Rodrigo é uma pequena e pacata aldeia, recostada no sopé da serra, rica em água pura e vegetação exuberante. Foi neste lugar que nasceu o nosso projeto agrícola, que toma emprestado o nome e procura cuidar desta terra.

Seguimos os princípios da Permacultura, utilizando métodos de cultivo no-dig e sem agroquímicos. Produzimos vegetais sazonais distribuídos em cabazes semanais, cultivamos plantas medicinais vivas e transformamos o que a terra nos dá em infusões, tinturas e óleos macerados. Ao longo do ano, abrimos também este espaço à comunidade, através de encontros e passeios de identificação de plantas, para partilhar conhecimento sobre o ecossistema que nos rodeia.

No entanto, a tempestade Kristin veio interromper brutalmente este caminho.

Em poucas horas, o Vale do Rodrigo sofreu danos profundos: telhas arrancadas, estufas destruídas, estruturas no chão e centenas - senão milhares - de árvores partidas a meio. Um cenário devastador, semelhante ao vivido em muitas outras regiões do país.

Desde as 7h da manhã de quarta-feira que não parámos: entre reparar o nosso telhado e ajudar vizinhos, desobstruir estradas bloqueadas por árvores, desmontar estruturas perigosas e tentar salvar o que ainda podia ser aproveitado.

Atualmente, continuamos sem eletricidade, com previsão de reposição apenas daqui a semanas. O início da próxima temporada de cabazes, que estava prestes a começar, tornou-se incerto.

Os prejuízos no projeto são significativos:

O Vale do Rodrigo é mais do que um projeto agrícola: é um espaço de cuidado com a terra, de produção local e de relação próxima com a comunidade. Com a vossa ajuda, queremos reconstruir, voltar a pôr as mãos na terra e permitir que este vale crie novamente raízes.

Help The Rodrigo Valley bloom again!

Rodrigo Valley is a small and peaceful village nestled at the foot of the mountains, rich in pure water and lush vegetation. It is here that our agricultural project was born, a project that borrows the name of this place and seeks to care for this land.

We follow Permaculture principles, using no-dig growing methods and avoiding agrochemicals. We grow seasonal vegetables distributed through weekly produce boxes, cultivate live medicinal plants, and transform what the land provides into infusions, tinctures, and infused oils. Throughout the year, we also open this space to the community through gatherings and plant identification walks, sharing knowledge about the ecosystem that surrounds us.

However, Storm Kristin brutally interrupted this path.

In just a few hours, Rodrigo Valley suffered severe damage: roofs torn apart, greenhouses destroyed, structures brought down, and hundreds - if not thousands - of trees snapped in half. A devastating scene, similar to what was experienced across many other regions of the country.

Since 7 a.m. on Wednesday, we haven’t stopped: repairing our own roof, helping neighbors, clearing roads blocked by fallen trees, dismantling dangerous structures, and trying to save whatever could still be recovered.

We are currently without electricity, with restoration only expected in several weeks. The start of the next produce box season, which was about to begin, has now become uncertain.

Rodrigo Valley is more than an agricultural project: it is a space of care for the land, local food production, and close connection with the community. With your help, we hope to rebuild, return our hands to the soil, and allow this valley to take root once again.
