EVEREST CHARITY BIKE CLIMB CHALLENGE
EVEREST CHARITY BIKE CLIMB CHALLENGE – BREDON HILL, TEWKESBURY
About the Challenge:
Spritely 72year old Rotarian Anthony Stockman is a man on a mission. Like millions of people across the country, Anthony was inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore and decided to set himself a personal challenge to help raise money for Gloucestershire charities.
Anthony is a former President of Tewkesbury Rotary and one of the organisers of the popular Tewkesbury Classic Vehicle Festival. The event is the Rotary’s biggest annual fundraiser and normally raises a significant sum for many worthwhile causes. Disappointed that it had to be cancelled this year due to Covid-19, Anthony felt compelled to ‘get on his bike’!
The lifelong motorcycle enthusiast has switched to pedal power to embark on an Everest Bike Climb Challenge. The concept often referred to as ‘Everesting’ is simple: Pick any hill, anywhere in the world and complete repeats until you climb 8,848m – the equivalent height of Mt Everest.
His attempt at this task is not without problems though, as he has some muscle degeneration in his left leg, an arthritic right thumb and wrist and is still enduring pain in his right shoulder following a mountain bike crash onto solid tarmac this time last year. With just a month to go, he’ll be spending the next 4 weeks familiarising himself with Bredon Hill and plans to do at least 6 climbs a day to build his stamina.
All money raised from his challenge will be donated to Severn Freewheelers Motorcycle Blood Bike Group, Gloucestershire Young Carers and Tewkesbury Rotary to enable them to provide further assistance to other charities impacted during coronavirus.

Gloucestershire Young Carers
Gloucestershire Young Carers is a marvellous charity that supports young carers and young adult carers up to the age of 24 in the county. The advent of the Coronavirus has meant that the burden on carers has increased and is often hidden behind closed doors due to the lockdown. The charity is constantly developing to meet the ever-changing needs to support, help and provide services to young carers in our community.

We know that times are tight, but if you can spare a few pounds both Anthony and the Charities would really appreciate it. Thank you so much for your support!
