We move around the streets of the city, through all those places that remain out of the gaze of its citizens, to re-signify them as spaces of encounter, mutualism, solidarity and struggle. We support the self-determination of people on the move through the exchange of knowledge, material and immaterial support away from charitative logic, and sharing practices of resistance to border repression.
We fight for a world without borders, without chains and without masters, in which freedom of movement is guaranteed to people before goods and in which everyone can fulfil their desires.
In order to be able to concretely support the people in transit we have organized a mobile infopoint that acts in the crucial zones of Ventimiglia like the beach, the railway station, the popular houses, near the bridge of the river Roja where the evening distribution of food takes place. This tool allows us to:
- Monitor the city meeting people on the move, reporting any human rights abuses and violations.
- Distribute basic necessities (clothes, shoes, towels, winter blankets and tents).
- Provide basic medical care with a hygiene kit.
- Provide electricity to charge phones and connect to a Wifi network.
- Offer spaces of sociality, confrontation and solidarity, to build meaningful relationships, through which re-imagine the future.
Thanks to these moments of meeting we can make people aware of the risks of the border and inform them about the support services available on the territory. We also provide information about their rights, basic legal advice about asylum, we share contacts of French and Italian lawyers and of solidarity networks in France,.
During our monitoring in the city and on the border we meet people with specific needs and vulnerabilities. Single women, families, unaccompanied minors, elderly people, people with disabilities, people who are most affected by border violence. We constantly host people in the house where we live, we accompany to the hospital those who need it, we contact doctors, psychiatrists and ethno-psychiatrists for people who express acute states of suffering.
In recent years we have tried to activate a network of people available to host people on the move in their private homes and this has been crucial, especially for families. We try to communicate with single women and offer them safe information, trying to set us as an alternative to trafficking networks, highly structured in the city. We also seek to denounce and raise the issue of human rights violations and to conduct campaigns to raise public awareness of migration issues. To do this we need the active participation of those who share our struggles. Be informed, participate, support us.
Your donations will help us to maintain the home where we give hospitality to people on the move and volunteers, and support our projects.
Thank you for your support!
