Airpusher and Anti Police-Terror Project

Hello friends, family, community members, allies, artists, dreamers, makers, and co-creators of a better world,
We don't need to go over why these times are especially challenging; you’re all living it with us, every day. Instead, we're asking you to support the Airpusher Collective as we adapt to our new reality and stand alongside us with those who are fighting for racial justice, defunding the police, and proudly proclaiming that Black Lives Matter!
For the last five years Airpusher Collective has been 100% funded by events in the Bay Area and dues paid by our hard working campers. We’ve relished the opportunity to bring as much of the ethos and principles of the Burn to these off-playa events as possible, and have been so blessed that your enthusiastic participation has helped to fund rides across the playa for thousands of wide-eyed Burners, a little floating bubble of open-armed radical acceptance in a sea of dreams.
In a typical year, we would be creating amazing experiences with all of you at events in the Bay and on playa. But this year, when we couldn’t do that, we’ve shifted focus. Our crew is working to support democracy, covid relief, and anti-racism. We’ve loaned our sound system to protests, we’re volunteering with social justice organizations, and we’re working to organize a blood drive and register voters.
With COVID-19 and the completely inept response here in the United States we have been unable to safely hold any kind of in-person events for the last six months, and we need help to keep the lights on and our rent paid until we’re through the worst of this thing. At the same time we are fully aware that there are deep injustices in our society that are a matter of life and death, and we feel called to raise funds to support a more just world.
So, now we are asking for your direct financial support.
Holding up both our needs as a collective and our collective need for ending police brutality and ushering in a truly racially just nation, we’re asking for your contribution, which will be divided 50/50 between Airpusher Collective and the Anti Police-Terror Project. Our fundraising goal of $15,000 will get us through at least the first half of 2021, when we hope we can see you in person again. How your contribution will be used:
Even without any public appearances, there are bills to pay to own an art car in the Bay Area. We've done all we can to reduce our spending by moving to outdoor storage places and delaying projects, but there's still cost:
- Storage space for the airship (and associated tools and materials), our infrastructure for the Burn, and our event gear (sound systems, decorations)
- Fees related to owning a car like California DMV, insurance, smog, etc.
- Business expenses like taxes and website hosting
About Anti Police Terror Project :
The Anti Police-Terror Project is an Oakland based, Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. We support families surviving police terror in their fight for justice, documenting police abuses and connecting impacted families and community members with resources, legal referrals, and opportunities for healing. APTP began as a project of the ONYX Organizing Committee.
