Aircraft Static Display for Veterans Group
Donation protected
Aug. 23rd 2024 update: We have raised nearly enough funds for the complete restoration of this aircraft! Thank you all who have supported us! We will now suspend fund raising efforts on GoFundMe and close out this project soon. Again thank you!
March 8th, 2024 update: We have raised a total of $21,000 to date. We are in the final stages of restoration and display touch up work. This will include rust remediation, paint, decals, perimeter barrier and bonze plaque. We only need another $7,000 to complete this project. What a long way we have come! Soon this aircraft will be shining bright for all to see. Please help us finish these last finishing touches to honor our veterans.
Oct, 5th 2023 update: The funds needed to relocate the aircraft have been collected and the aircraft is now sitting at the legion post. Many have admired it however it is in need of much repair/restoration. We have a professional aircraft restoration company that will be performing the work to bring back it's appearance as a static display. For this effort we are still striving to collect another $6000 for restoration of this historic military display.
To date on Mar 22nd 2023, we relocated the aircraft to our post and have begun restoration efforts. Thank you to everybody who has helped! We are still in need of more funds so let's keep up the good work.
We are the American Legion veterans Black-Phillips POST 433, located in Midland, NC. We are an active veterans group serving other veterans and our local community. We have a small park with static military displays. We have a howitzer for the Army, a torpedo for the Navy, an anchor for the Coast Guard. Now we are endeavoring to acquire an Aircraft for the Air Force. The aircraft will be made available from the National Air Force Museum; however, we must pay for transportation, set up of the aircraft at our post and some restoration work. We need financial help to do this. Please support our veterans' group and help us serve our local community with this fantastic display of military hardware!
