Aimee's Kids and Students Need Your Help
Donation protected
I was hesitant to create this fundraiser, as I know there are so many people in high need in today’s economy. However, after some consideration I decided it never hurts to ask for a little help (although it’s something I rarely do).
My name is Aimee Ducot and I am a 22-year veteran teacher in a special needs classroom. I teach a mixture of students with Autism, Emotional Disturbance, and Intellectual Disability. I supply daily snack, drinks, clothing, hygiene supplies, and classroom supplies out of pocket. This year, I have a student who has become temporarily displaced. Due to confidentiality, I cannot disclose more information. The student stayed in my home for one night, in the home of my teaching assistant for several nights and is now in a temporary setting. We have been supplying the basic food, clothing, and personal hygiene items amongst the classroom staff. The wonderful person helping our student has reached out and asked for support (specifically food, bedding, and personal items) for the child. Unfortunately, I am simply out of money and cannot provide more than I already have. I would like to supply the items needed and help with getting food for the home.
Additionally, with all expenses this year stacking up, I would be extremely appreciative of any help getting juice, water, snack items, and toiletries for the classroom for the remainder of the school year. Some of our students have food scarcity, and I try to always have an assortment of items they prefer for them in the room.
Lastly, and in full transparency, I have a personal request. I was hit by a driver running a red light on my way to school early this school year. It totaled my vehicle and caused me serious injury. I am continuing to receive treatment for my shoulder, back, and head injury. This unexpected, continuing out of pocket expense, coupled with my spouse being out of work for several months this year has had significant impact on our household. I always work summer to make up for not being employed for two months. I will still be doing that again this summer. Unfortunately, any savings I had set aside to help get through the summer was spent between hospital bills, ongoing treatment, vehicle replacement, classroom supplies, and supporting significant student needs. My own three children are feeling the restriction on our home budget. I would love to send my own daughter and son to camp for a week this summer, but it is entirely not an option for me financially.
If it is on your heart to help a teacher out, it would be greatly appreciated. I’d love to help my student, my classroom, and my own home as much as possible. Again, I know there are much bigger hurdles that people are jumping out there, and I appreciate the time and consideration of those of you reading this. Much love to you all! God Bless!!
