Help a Single Mom & Her Daughter Stay Housed During Job Search
Hi, my name is May, and I’m reaching out with humility and hope. I’m a single mom doing everything I can to provide a stable, loving home for my daughter after a very challenging year.
After shifting from a two-person income family to a handling it all on my own, I poured my heart and resources into keeping our home and life steady for my 9-year-old daughter — including using up my 401k savings and working multiple side jobs. Despite my best efforts, I was laid off from my corporate job six months ago. I’ve been actively applying, networking and interviewing, but with so many others affected by major layoffs, the job market has been incredibly competitive. I’m often told I’m “overqualified” for roles outside my field, making it all the more challenging to garner any sort of income.
I’ve already sold our home to stay afloat, but now I’m at risk of eviction in a few days as I continue this search. Sadly, I don’t qualify for unemployment or government or community aid, even after trying every avenue I can, as so many others in the community face similar fates.
This isn’t easy to ask, but I’m seeking support to cover rent and essential bills so my daughter and I can stay safe and housed while I work tirelessly to secure employment and other means of income. Every donation — no matter how small — helps give us the stability to make it through this storm.
As any parent, my natural instincts are to protect her from any recoil from this plea for support, but we have dreams one day of healing our family and getting through this rough patch. As such, I am sharing wall art we’ve made together to keep that dream strong.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, or contributing. Your kindness means more than I can express.
