Help Emily & Ben Garland Recover After a Devastating House Fire

Last Tuesday afternoon, Emily and Ben Garland’s home caught fire while they were away. A water heater in the basement ignited, destroying their utility room and setting the basement framing on fire. The flames even began climbing behind the kitchen pantry.

If the fire department had arrived just five minutes later, they likely would have lost their entire home—or at least most of it.

Thanks to quick action, the house was saved. But the damage is still extensive: the basement is flooded, smoke filled the home, and major repairs are needed throughout.

With nine children to care for, Emily and Ben were living out of a hotel while trying to figure out next steps. Insurance is moving slowly, and now they are moving into an RV- and nothing is certain yet
