Aid Tanisha's Commitment to Amplify Community Voices

Hi, my name is Tanisha Saunders and recently I was elected to serve as a delegate within the California State Democratic Party representing Assembly District 61. Not only did I become a delegate, I obtained the most votes within the election, earning the position of Executive Board Member Representative for the district. I am honored to serve in this role and do the work to represent my community, especially the voices that are not always amplified while supporting the work of the party. This is an unpaid, very important volunteer role. I am up to the task, though it will not be easy and there will be expenses involved to serve in this role. I am raising funds to ensure I can serve in this role and to prove that anyone can get involved no matter their economic status or background. Costs associated with the role of Executive Board Representative are higher than delegates due to the additional meetings we must attend throughout the state. I am asking for your support so I can fully serve in this role. According to the California Democratic Party Training, folks should expect to spend $1,000 - $2,500 for costs associated with this role. Costs include but are not limited to: travel, lodging, food, convention/meeting registration, caucus membership dues, CADEM membership costs, and unpaid time off from work. I will be transparent regarding money raised and spent toward this work.
A bit more about me:
I proudly served my first term as an Assembly District 61 delegate for 2023-2025; I am running to continue to apply the knowledge and skills I have gained to uplift the work of the party. I grew up in AD 61, attending elementary through middle school in Hawthorne, CA, and I graduated from Lawndale High School in 2007. I currently work as a Resident Manager for an affordable housing nonprofit based in Venice, CA, and I am a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. Every day I use my lived experience and education to contribute to the work of ending homelessness through direct service and public policy advocacy. I have overcome many facets of adversity, including homelessness and violence, and I am passionate about being the change that I wish to see while amplifying the opportunity for others to be civically engaged. During this past election, I phone banked and volunteered to support Democratic campaigns and the efforts to pass Measure A. I served as the secretary for the Black Los Angeles Young Democrats (BLAYD) 2023-2024. I am honored to have been elected to continue serving as a Delegate, and now Executive Board Representative for AD61 within the California Democratic Party.
