Hi everyone.
I'm Theresia, Scott's wife.
On July 18th we received the news that Scott has 1A2 non small cell lung cancer.
Although caught early, his treatment will be extensive and debilitating.
His thoracic oncology surgeon, Dr. William Phillips, feels it is in his best interest to perform a trisegmentectomy. This will involve removing part of his lung, tumor and lymphadectomy.
The surgery will take place the end of August @ UMASS in Worcester.
It is a very involved procedure that will leave Scott with only 50% of his left lung.
Chemotherapy may be involved. We will know more after his surgery.
Scott is considered high risk due to his COPD and NAFLD.
He will be looking at a 6- 12 month recovery at home. Unfortunately this will take him out of the work force.
This will significantly challenge our household financially in regards to medical and living expenses.
He has applied for SSDI, but as most know, it can take months for approval.
Scott has always been a very self reliant, hardworking man, and has never asked for help and with myself on SSDI due to MS, the hardship is even more compounded.
If you can help in any way please know that we would be beyond grateful.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Scott & Theresia Anderson
