<div>I'm Theresia, Scott's wife.
</div>
<div>On July 18th we received the news that Scott has 1A2 non small cell lung cancer.
</div>
<div>Although caught early, his treatment will be extensive and debilitating.
</div>
<div>His thoracic oncology surgeon, Dr. William Phillips, feels it is in his best interest to perform a trisegmentectomy. This will involve removing part of his lung, tumor and lymphadectomy.
</div>
<div>The surgery will take place the end of August @ UMASS in Worcester.
</div>
<div>It is a very involved procedure that will leave Scott with only 50% of his left lung.
</div>
<div>Chemotherapy may be involved. We will know more after his surgery.
</div>
<div>Scott is considered high risk due to his COPD and NAFLD.
</div>
<div>He will be looking at a 6- 12 month recovery at home. Unfortunately this will take him out of the work force.
</div>
<div>This will significantly challenge our household financially in regards to medical and living expenses.
</div>
<div>He has applied for SSDI, but as most know, it can take months for approval.
</div>
<div>Scott has always been a very self reliant, hardworking man, and has never asked for help and with myself on SSDI due to MS, the hardship is even more compounded. 
</div>

</div>
