Aid Nuccio's Nurseries Recovery After Devastating Fire

Dear friends,

My name is Kathy Liu and I'm from San Diego. I'm reaching out with heavy heart to share the news that the legendary Nuccio's Nurseries at Altadena, was tragically destroyed by Eaton fires. The damage is catastrophic, and what was once a beautiful camellia garden is now in ruins. The nursery is in desperate need to get water trucks to hopefully salvage the plants once the entry is allowed.

The owner, Tom and Jim Nuccio, both now in their 70s, are the kindest people I know of. We (Joey's Wings Foundation) have been working with them for 6 years bringing their camellia to the Bay Area and San Diego to benefit children with cancer. The last fundraiser with the nursery was just last month in December, 2024. We sold over 1,000 pots of camellia in Bay Area and San Diego. The brothers drove two trucks of camellia all the way from Altadena to the San Francisco Bay Area and they refused to let us pay for any cost including the camellia.

It's our turn to help Jim and Tom, who have been unselfishly contributing to the community all their lives! Tom, has been in hospital for more than 2 weeks (unrelated to fire). 2025 is the 90th anniversary of the nursery, a legacy of several generations and a treasure of the community. We want to do anything we could to help reduce the damage of the nursery. Every dollar of this fund goes to help with the recovery of the nursery after the fire and the support for Tom.
