Aid Needed to Resolve Estate and Secure Future

Simply put, I desperately need a bridge loan of sorts (or angel investor?!) to help me FINALLY settle my father's affairs in Greece. Sounds extravagant or exotic, right? Nope. This has been an extended nightmare due to distance, lack of funds and support, bureaucratic red tape, complicated domestic and international issues with the estate, and the tiny obstacle of being a single mom and sole caregiver to a high needs special needs child with no support team to back her up.

In an effort to be completely transparent, here is what needs to happen and where this money will go:

--8 years of back taxes on both his apartment and small plot of land. These will have to be paid up front before anything else can be done. Thankfully, these shouldn't be too high. I’d rather not lose this to the state after allllllllllllll that time, grief, effort, and money spent getting to this point!

--The trip to/from Greece and an extended stay of possibly up to 6-8 weeks at cheap AirBnBs because his flat is completely uninhabitable. I am not high maintenance and there should be plenty of affordable studios or rooms to rent in the off season.

--While the bulk of the expensive and complicated issues have been resolved, there will still be a few dangling fees to ensure all paperwork is official, signed, and complete. This will include random legal fees, translation services, real estate fees, consular fees, engineer for schematics and inspection, etc. I don't foresee these being too high either, but there will be plenty of "necessary" bureaucratic fees to deal with.

--As mentioned before, I have no real support for my disabled son while I'm away, so some of this will go to ensure he will be supported. Since his father isn't interested in helping support him while I'm gone, I will need to rely heavily on my mother and a network of helpers. My lease is up at the end of November so I will not have a homebase for him to stay (as of now). This will remain an obstacle, unfortunately. That's the reality of poverty and no family support. I won't sugarcoat that.

--His apartment remains police-taped off and locked until I can personally gain entry. Once I do, it will be a dilapidated hoarding nightmare of epic proportions to sift through, as well as a crumbling interior (ceilings falling in. 8+ years of pests and decrepitude, ancient plumbing, etc). I am not looking to do a complete remodel, but it will take money and effort to get it cleared and gutted to a reasonable selling point. This will NOT be fun or glamorous... this will be bunny suits, face masks, gloves, dedicated dumpsters, and equipment to remove trash and demo from the 5th floor. I cannot say for certain that all the valuables haven't already been looted, honestly... but I still need to go clear out his personal stuff. I also won't sugarcoat the state of his apartment. It was a nightmare in 2017... it'll be an even bigger nightmare now.

The main goal of this, other than finally closing an insane chapter of grief and trauma, is to SECURE A FUTURE FOR MYSELF AND MY PERMANENTLY DISABLED SON SO WE DON'T HAVE TO SOLELY RELY ON GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE! Yes, it's that bad. This will quite literally be a bridge to securing stable housing and support for him for the future. We have no safety nets or back-ups.

For any interested investors:

Despite the horrors that await, the apartment itself is in a quaint and convenient area of town close to the boardwalk/promenade that overlooks the Thermaic Gulf and Mt Olympus and offers easy access to points south towards city center and the port, and north towards music and sporting venues, and beaches. It’s also 2 blocks from the metro stop with easy access to hospitals, universities, shops, entertainment, and cultural centers. I say all this to highlight the positives because there are many: it’s a 3/2 on the 5th floor of a quiet building on a side street with 2 big, separate balconies (front and back) and is roughly 110sq m (1200 sq ft) with TONS of potential. The neighbors on both sides would buy it in a heartbeat, as well as local investors and other families. I just have to get there and do this last bit. For those interested and serious, I have an amazing Greek lawyer who can provide further specifics and/or proof of everything I've mentioned.

The reason I highlight that is to offer to pay back anyone who donates once everything sells. I have no other means to obtain such a loan and this was my only other option. If that's the course people would like to take, this will offer record of who, what, and how much.

I will also be documenting EVERYTHING for both complete transparency and posterity.
