Help Keep Nathalie—A Devoted Mother & Pillar of Our Community—Home
My mother Nathalie Pierre has spent 25+ years building a life rooted in love, compassion, acceptance and strong work ethics. A cherished mother of four, including a vulnerable 11-year-old daughter, and a devoted wife, she embodies kindness, integrity, and unwavering generosity. Now, her future in America—and our family’s stability—hang by a thread.
A Heartbreaking Injustice
Over two decades ago, my mother trusted a lawyer to file her green card application adjustment status. At the time of her adjustment, she was classified as a single dependent over the age of 21. As a Haitian immigrant with limited English, she believed herself as “single” being freshly divorced—not understanding that single meant “never married,” which was never explained to her. As my mother has been in the process of obtaining her citizenship for 25+ years, (the same amount of time she held her green card) this new administration denied her application and took that opportunity to review her green card status to find any faults to revoke her access to America. Tragically, this oversight (by a since-disbarred lawyer guilty of immigration fraud in 2016, a fact NOT made known to us until this situation arose ) has been weaponized to revoke her green card. Despite a spotless record, the government claims her status was “fraudulent,” threatening to tear her from our family, her children, community, and the only home she’s known for 25 years.
Deportation to Haiti = Arguably A Death Sentence
Haiti is in chaos: gang militia rule the streets, airports are locked down, and the government has collapsed. My mother is chronically il, not having readily available healthcare would be detrimental to her. My mother has type 2 diabetes, bone spurs, and major complications to her one of her legs and arms. With no family or home left there, she cannot survive this without significant help. And although most of her children are adults, my youngest sister faces a childhood without her mother’s guidance at the tender age of 11—an absence that would irrevocably change her life for the worse, introducing anxiety, stress, and an aching need for maternal love and guidance.
We Have Hope—But Time is Running Out
A very skilled and reputable immigration lawyer is ready to fight for her case at reduced cost. Even with this deep kindness we urgently need $12,000 to secure their help (and for any other legal fees that come up). Thanks to a temporary protection order, Nathalie can stay while we battle this—but without these funds, we lose our shot at justice and further destabilizing our family.
