During the Christmas holiday, the farm of the Kuamoʻo Legacy Foundation was vandalized and stolen from, resulting in damage and a loss of over $10,000 worth of equipment, materials and plants from their farm in lower Puna.
In early 2024, lineal descendants of Kuamoʻo Moʻokini formed the non profit, Kuamoʻo Legacy Foundation (KLF) to supplement existing ongoing volunteer efforts and support the growing needs of our community.
For most of 2024, the KLF ʻohana have given their personal time, energy and money to start the farm. Their efforts have resulted in greenhouse construction, planting food crops as well as acquiring necessary building/farm materials and equipment. It has been beautiful to see this ʻohana from across the island and paeʻāina come together. While this loss is disheartening, Kuamoʻo Legacy Foundation ʻohana remains steadfast in their work and will not be deterred by this incident.
The ʻohana humbly asks for donations to help replace the following that was stolen or damaged:
Trailer
5’x8’ shipping container
275 gal water container
Solar water heater
Sink
Pipes
3 ft. tear requiring immediate repair.
Mahalo piha!
