Aid Kathy O'Steen's Family Through Hard Times

Dear friends of Kathy O'Steen,

If you are fortunate enough to be counted as a friend, a client, or both of Kathy O’Steen, you know she is an amazing teacher/tutor who has spent years inspiring, nurturing, and supporting hundreds of children through obstacles such as learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, and autism. Many of you have been lucky enough to experience her successes with your children. Kathy is masterful at guiding students over hurdles that remain insurmountable to other professionals. She embodies the mind, heart, and spirit of teaching. Each child feels her love and her belief in them. Kathy teaches as she leads her life, making every person feel seen and heard. She pours herself into helping everyone, students, family, and friends. Even after the tutoring sessions come to a close, her former students know that she will always be there for them through life’s challenges. She keeps those important connections going.

In the past, Kathy’s joyful spirit has not been dampened by the hardships she has faced. Unfortunately, her family is being tested by several current circumstances:

Long-term health issues for multiple family members prevent them from working, making Kathy’s tutoring the only source of income. They are facing additional financial strain as their rental property, a considerable source of their income, was destroyed by renters. Sadly, they are left with an unrentable property which needs extensive repair. Their insurance will not cover these expenses because the damage was the result of a negligent animal-hoarding situation involving a number of sick animals. Without insurance, they are paying out-of-pocket for damage to the house without any rental income to offset the costs. This makes their financial situation untenable.

We hope to help them get back on their feet so they don’t have to sell their house and leave Colorado. Their plan, going forward, is to repair the most serious structural damage and put the rental house on the market as quickly as possible. We know that Kathy has a beautiful community surrounding her. So many of us would like to thank her for her generous help with our children and our lives. We would also like to make sure that her talents are available to the next generation of children growing up in Boulder.
