Help a Local Family Keep Their Home After a Devastating Accident
On August 15, 2025, our family’s life changed in an instant.
My husband, Joshua, was seriously injured in an accident on his way home from work. What was originally expected to be a short recovery has now become 4 months and counting.
Joshua has undergone three surgeries, suffered three infections, and now has one metal plate and eight screws in his leg, along with fractured ribs. He is non-weight-bearing and largely bed-bound until a month and half ago. His next appointment is January 22nd, where we hope he will finally be cleared to begin weight-bearing and start museal strengthening in physical therapy.
Because of this accident:
Joshua has been unable to work
Short-term disability has run out
There is no long-term disability coverage
I returned to work full-time 8 weeks ago which has been a struggle all on its own due to vehicle problems. Now it has gotten more steady since a friend has sold us his SUV. Even though it does have a few problems in one being major as of now it's reliable enough to get me back and forth to work. I commute 30 minutes each way for work.
Current financial situation:
Monthly shortfall: approximately $3,000
We are asking for help to cover some of our financial need.
Joshua continues his recovery. Our fundraising goal reflects only what is needed to stabilize us during this period.
Joshua wants people to understand the emotional toll this has taken:
“After the accident, I pushed my wife and son away because I couldn’t get up and do anything with them.”
This has been incredibly hard on him mentally and emotionally. He is struggling with depression and isolation. Before the accident, he worked six days a week, always helping others, always showing up. Asking for help has been very difficult for him — but we are out of options.
We are deeply grateful that the county has helped with food and some of the medical bills, but it is not enough to cover , and childcare while living on one income.
We are born and raised in this area, both longtime employees at Select Foods, and this is our first home. We are doing everything we can, but we cannot do this alone.
So in our home is Josh Holly are son David and our niece charity.
All funds raised will go directly toward:
Mortgage arrears
Transportation and childcare expenses
Basic household stability until Joshua can return to work
We are willing to provide documentation for medical status and bills if requested.
If you’re unable to donate, there are other ways to help:
Diapers: Luvs Size 4
Baby wipes: Parent’s Choice (our son has sensitive skin)
A meal dropped off occasionally
A short visit or check-in with Joshua — isolation has been very hard on him
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing. Every share truly helps.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer during this incredibly difficult season.
With gratitude,
Holly & Joshua
Bless everyone who has been here for us in our hard time
