Aid Gregory's Journey to Full Recovery
Donation protected
I am making this GoFundMe to help raise money for my sister-in-law during this extremely difficult and stressful time.
My nephew, her son Gregory, this is her story in her words:
"My son Gregory became very sick with Streptococcal group A meningitis. This is a rare form of meningitis as it is typically caused by strep pneumonia, not group A. It came on really fast, and he ended up hospitalized. We have been in the hospital since February 2nd, and I have been out of work to care for him. Since that date, he has had to get a 2 spinal taps, 2 CAT scans, 2 X-rays, he had an EEG monitor on his head, a picc line put in and 5 MRIs. About a week ago he started to get better and we thought we were out of the woods. Then things took a turn for the worse and we were moved to ICU. It turns out he had a stroke and now has a difficult time speaking or communicating effectively. He then had to under go IVIG infusions. I was told unfortunately he ended up w brain damage and he will need physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to see how much he can get back but he may not be able to fully recover. He is strong and he is determined so we are so so very hopeful that he proves them wrong. This is the most terrifying and heart wrenching thing I've ever seen or been through."
He has quite the road to recovery ahead of him in the hospital and when we go home he will need to go to rehab for therapy every day and I will make sure I get him there and to all his appointments as there will be many. We are praying very hard for Gregory and I hope everyone keeps the prayers coming. They mean more than you will ever know. Thank you all so much.
