I’m Mary Kay Neyland, and I am requesting help with an emergency situation.

A dear friend and her family, whom I met through church over a decade ago, needs your help. A long story short… Soinia Burgueno is an American citizen with two children whose husband has not received his American citizenship as of yet.

They have followed the government’s directives and decided to self deport in order to better their chances for him to become a citizen in the future.

Soinia, and Frank -her husband of 22 years, and their kids packed up, said their goodbyes, and with their truck, trailer, and limited possessions, headed for the border.

Unfortunately, there was a glitch when they crossed the border. Mexico did not accept their permits on their transportation or property. They hit them with a $1500 bill to start the process and will not let them move on until permits are straightened out. UPDATE: I was just told by Soinia that not only did the border-patrol person in Mexico steal the $1500, they took the documentation that they did have. They are stuck at the border on the Mexico side. The costs are adding up.

Yes, they had done everything they understood on our side of the border.

Now they have to pay for accommodations for several days: food and shelter, as well as pay MORE fees and permit applications.

WE HAVE ESTIMATED $4,000 TO $5000.

Soinia’s family is not financially prepared for this unexpected financial burden.

I am asking my friends as well as anyone who knows her to consider giving any amount to help. I respect this family for their efforts. It is sad that they have to go through this.

May God be with them every step of the way, and may we virtually wrap our arms around them in this difficult life transition.
