Aid for Raul Garcia who has been kidnapped by ICE
Donation protected
On June 28, 2025, my uncle, Raul Garcia, was kidnapped by state-sanctioned thugs while riding his bike to work near MacArthur Park. He is currently being detained in El Paso, Texas. We have received very little information about him and have been unable to contact him since his abduction.
My uncle has lived in the United States for over 20 years and has worked tirelessly every single day to provide for himself. Riding his bike to work around MacArthur Park was part of his daily routine, and it is devastating for us to see such a peaceful moment turned into something so traumatic.
We know my uncle is just one of many hard-working people being kidnapped, detained, and criminalized in this fascist country for nothing more than trying to survive and contribute under already suffering conditions. We are calling on community to support my uncle with the awareness that all we truly have is one another.
All funds will go toward covering my uncle’s legal fees and essential living expenses, such as travel from Texas or Mexico to Los Angeles, rent, and bills, as he is currently unable to work. Any support is appreciated by the Garcia family, whether it’s financially or sharing my uncle’s story.
UPDATE as of 7/2/25:
My uncle has arrived in Mexico and is on his way to Puebla. I'm raising the gofundme goal as he will be starting from nothing once he is there. Thank you so much for the support so far.
UPDATE 7/5/25:
My uncle was able to give us more details about what happened during his abduction and it cleared up some things:
- initially thought he was abducted at macarthur park because his co worker felt like it would be there since hes around that area a lot
- learned that it was at bell gardens on clara st & eastern ave while he was turning check in for cash at a liquor store
- happened in the am
- masked men asked him if they recognized a guy that they showed a picture of and then asked if him if he had papers, he refused to answer and then they fought and handcuffed him and put him in a white van
- for the entire day they drove around la with him in the van and kidnapping more and more people
- around 8pm they took him to detention center in dtla where he would spend three days there
- took him to ontario and then arizona
- spent two days in detention center there
- took him to el paso texas and spent four days there
- wasnt able to call anyone during this entire time
- only ate once a day sometimes not at all
- the bus to mexico was filled with black and brown people
- gave him two options: to stay in detention center in la where it would take "years" to fight for his case or to go back to mexico
