Hello, my name is Elisabeth Lundberg and I am a Spanish teacher at Southwest High School. I have gotten to know Patricio, Lisette & their two children because they rented a small basement apartment from my mother in South Mpls, and I helped them translate from time to time as well as find car seats and other baby items. Lisette and her two children have gone back to Ecuador, but Patricio has stayed here in Mpls with the plan to work and support his family as an Uber driver. Unfortunately, he has not been able to work for the past two months and hasn’t been able to leave his apartment either. My daughter and I dropped off food to him & his extended family, who are now living together and in fear of ICE coming to deport them at any moment.
Today via WhatsApp videocall, some of my Spanish IV students interviewed him and heard about his situation. They asked me afterwards if we could do a GoFundMe to help him raise some money to be able to support his wife & children back in Ecuador while he is unable to work. Here it is. Anything will help, small donations of $5- $10 are welcome and I will send via Western Union any money that we are able to raise to Lisette & her children who I have been in touch with via whatsapp as well. Thank you!
(stuffed animals (squish mellows) in the photos are items my children gave them while they lived here).
My Spanish II students will interview him tomorrow, Friday. He told us about his dog he had for 12 years after one student asked him what his favorite animal was. It was lovely. They really enjoyed talking with Patricio and he was so kind and patient w the Q&A. :)
