We are a family of five with three children—ages 17, 8, and 2—and right now, we are facing an emergency we never saw coming. We have our dog Shadow that is the same age as my youngest daughter and our sons companion and our cat gypsy. Because of the circumstances if we cannot find a place that will allow us to take Shadow we may have to put him up for adoption.
On March 27, 2026, started a whirlwind of things we were not prepared for. A large oak tree fell onto our property, damaging the electrical system and which there was no action or help from the landlord. One of the other moms on the property was electrically shocked when this happened. We were evacuated after it was discovered that the property had ungrounded electrical issues that caused parts of the home to become electrified. It was a terrifying situation, especially with three children in the house.
Since then, the city has stepped in and determined that the home is not safe to live in due to serious hazards including electrical dangers, mold, and structural damage. The property is now in the process of being shut down because it is considered unlivable.
We are being forced to relocate immediately.
Everything has happened so fast. One moment we had a home, and now I’m trying to figure out where my kids are going to sleep.
As a mom, my only focus is making sure my children are safe. But right now, I’m struggling to come up with the money needed for a security deposit, first month’s rent, moving expenses, and temporary lodging while we search for a new place.
This isn’t just about moving—it’s about getting my children out of danger and into a safe, stable home as quickly as possible.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just keep us in your thoughts, it truly means everything to us. Every bit of support helps bring us closer to safety and stability.
Thank you for helping my family through one of the hardest moments we’ve ever faced.
