Hi, I’m Kristen, Mandy’s sister. Sunday evening Mandy went into cardiac arrest brought on by pneumonia and a severe asthma attack. Her husband performed CPR until paramedics arrived and was taken to Mid Valley Hospital, then was Life Flighted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee where she has been since. She is in medically induced coma and is on a ventilator. Her heart is beating on its own and her body is also initiating her breathing on its own, but she is experiencing some swelling of the brain, so her body is being cooled and sedated to help her body heal. She is responding to environmental stimulation, i.e. voices, tickles and hand holding. We, as a family, have a long road of recovery ahead of us. Daniel is having to take time off of work to be with her full time at the hospital, our parents and my husband and myself will be traveling to and from Wenatchee to help Daniel out along with taking care of their 3 kids; Madilynn (14), Landon (3) and Kynsley (2).
