Saturday, July 5th, 2025, was easily the most tragic day for our family on record. Around 3:00 am, my wife's father, Mark McLean, and her brother and his daughter, Eric Lazarz and Bella Lazarz, were awakened by smoke detectors blaring in the dead of the night. Their house had caught on fire from an exterior source that is still unknown to us. A big portion of the exterior was set ablaze, and smoke filled the house. Thankfully, they were all able to get out safe and brought to our house to stay while the damage was being assessed. Unfortunately, this would not be the worst thing to happen that day. Later on that same day, Eric got the news that his 2-year-old son, Walker Grey Lazarz, had been found unresponsive in a swimming pool after slipping through the gate at a family friend's house. Eric and I rushed to the hospital where life-saving measures were still being attempted on his sweet boy. Despite their best efforts, Walker did not make it. All of our hearts were instantly shattered. This tragic day has rocked our family. Sweet Walker was laid to rest this past Thursday at the church where he attended daycare.

The following days have been unimaginably hard for Eric, Mark, and Bella. After losing their home and Eric's beautiful son, we've been left trying to figure out a way forward. The house, which is a rental, is uninhabitable, and they will be forced to move in the coming days to another home. There was no renter's insurance policy on the home, so anything damaged by the fire and smoke will have to be replaced out of pocket. This includes mattresses, bedding, clothes, furniture, food, among other things.

I am setting up this fund to help them replace the material things that were lost that day. These are small prices to pay compared to what was lost that cannot be replaced. We have been touched by the outpouring of support from family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones. We feel your love and prayers, and God has moved us in ways you can't possibly imagine. This tragedy has changed our hearts in many ways, and all I can say to those that have reached out, brought food for the family, spent time with us, and prayed for us is THANK YOU! God has blessed us with a lot of emotional support, and now I ask if you are able to, please help this family with the financial support to start over in a world missing one of its most joyous and loved members.
