Aid for Chia Vue's Family in Crisis

Many of you may have heard of all the increased noise around ICE deportation cases. I am writing here today to say this is all real and is occurring to many people, many of whom came into this country legally as refugees. My brother Chia Vue is one of these individuals. He was born in a refugee camp in Thailand. On June 7th, 2025, around 10 am, my brother was detained at his home by ICE agents and authorities. Many authorities such as the Police, DEA, and DHS were all present and involved in the detaining of my brother. The ICE agents had their faces covered and refused to speak to anyone. All they said was that my brother missed his check-in, which was not accurate. Our entire family went in with him for his check-in just the previous week. They are most likely not releasing him and have plans to deport him to Laos. We all have mixed negative emotions and are still dealing with the shock of this event.

Some back history on my brother Chia. He made some bad decisions as a juvenile and got in trouble with the law at an early age. He was incarcerated as an adult when he was a minor. He later got in trouble again while on a hunting trip. Keep in mind this was 20 plus years ago and he had already served his time. Chia has changed to a completely different person. He has a family and has stayed out of trouble. After he served his initial term, immigration confiscated his documents. At this point, he lost his rights to become a citizen or permanent resident.

Chia came to the United States at the age of 4 years old. Our father passed away in Laos before we came to the US. Our mother passed away not too long after we arrived in the US. Chia and I were orphans before we were even able to attend elementary school. Fortunately, our uncle and aunt loved us a lot and did the best they could as guardians. We were still wards of the state. We were unable to apply for citizenship until we were adults. There were definitely challenges growing up as orphans.

Chia is married and has five children. His oldest is 17 years old and the youngest is 3 years old. His abrupt removal from their lives has left them seeking help to make ends meet. Your donation will be used to help with expenses here in the US and also to help Chia get on his feet in Laos. My brother does not speak the language or understand the culture there. We are worried for him and his family.

We appreciate your donation and support during this tough time.
