Hi,

I am Carolyn, the mother of a severely autistic young man (Rick.) He requires full time care, 24/7/365. We live frugally in order to get by on Social Security and donations from friends and family. For example we don't own a vehicle, walking to the store, laundromat and taking the bus for doctor visits. I love the environment and it is better for Rick's physical and mental health so I am happy to think of it not only as saving money but also as our part in making the world a better place. Many people in our community love to see Rick's smile. I can tell there is something healing about seeing the way he loves to go places and see people. Occasionally he gives high fives to people when he feels comfortable.

My mother was an educational psychologist and saw first hand how much special care he needed. She left us her house but we don't have extra money to fix things when they break. Thanks to the $919 raised here, I was able to pay for the electric mast to be repaired when a tree pulled down the power line. It saved me hundreds that I would have had to pay for a loan.
