- Hello, my name is Kayla Meschke, formerly known as Kayla Gutknecht. My dad, Brian Gutknecht, suffered an ischemic stroke and a hemorrhagic stroke. He experienced a small brain bleed along with full blockage to an artery on his left side and 80% blockage on his right side. Prior to this incident, my dad had cysts removed from his ankle, and my mom had a recent fall on Super Bowl Sunday with 5 fractures to her pelvis and a displaced fracture to her lumbar spine. Due to having a recent MRI and visit to pain management, she had an ultrasound-guided injection to her lower back, which has temporarily allowed her to walk without assistance. However, once this injection wears off, she will be back to having the same pain and issues.
- Due to the severity of my dad's stroke, he is awaiting admission to PAM in Fargo. But with my mother having to live off social security and no ability to work, I am asking for help financially to help her travel back and forth to Fargo to spend periods of time there to visit my dad. Anything helps, and I truly appreciate your help, as my parents do as well. I will keep posting updates on my dad as he continues to heal and has quite an extensive journey ahead of him. FUNDS: Money will be used for duration of mom and my stay in Grand Forks which we are on week 3 here. Gas, food and lodging. We still have a long road ahead of us when dad gets discharged on 30th, and not sure what future holds but if dad ends up in nursing home, then mom could really face some huge financial burdens since dad doesnt have a nursing home or long term care policy.
