Hello everyone, my name is Emily Shaw.

I’m creating this GoFundMe with a heavy heart to help my dear friend Azara Kettner and her grandfather, Allen Kettner, who have already endured more loss than most people experience in a lifetime.

Azara lost her stepfather in 2018, and in January 2020 she lost her mother, the person who was her constant and her safe place. Since then, Azara has been living with her grandfather, her mother’s father, who stepped in to care for her during the most painful time of her life. Sadly, her grandfather has serious medical and heart issues and has previously undergone open heart surgery. Because of his health, he was forced into early retirement, and they now survive solely on her mother’s death benefit income.

Recently, everything became even harder. While she was driving home on back roads with another friend, a vehicle came into her lane at a very high speed around a curve. To avoid a head-on collision, she swerved and crashed into a telephone pole, causing significant damage her grandfather’s truck. This accident has created unexpected financial stress that directly affects Azara and her grandfather, who are already living day to day just trying to get by.

Azara is one of the most kind hearted, resilient people I know, and her grandfather has done everything in his power to protect and support her despite his own health struggles. They don’t ask for help, but right now, they truly need it.
