Support for a Single Mother's Legal Challenges

Firstly, from the bottom of my heart I thank everyone who gives this any time out of your day, the consideration is greatly appreciated. I’m creating this gofundme on behalf of my beloved sister, Dennika Wines, who currently finds herself in one of the most difficult times in her life. If you know me at all you know how close she and I are, and that I would do anything within my power to help her and her daughter. While going through this incredibly difficult time, she is also having an extremely hard time grappling with asking for any kind of help, so I’m doing my best to reach out for her. I fully believe she deserves to see the love and support she has always put into her family/community come back around to her.

Recently, Dennika was finally able to exit an unhealthy relationship that lasted 2.5 years. While attempting to salvage the relationship this also took a heavy toll on her mental health, which she has struggled with before, now driving it to crisis levels. Unfortunately, two nights before her daughter’s 11th birthday, and during their last altercation, Dennika was forced to defend herself from physical abuse. This resulted in police intervention and Dennika solely being faced with criminal charges, though she was defending herself. I've known Dennika my whole life and she has never been known to be violent, or a criminal. She has had no prior charges. At her best, she takes pleasure in cooking and gains some external revenue from meal prepping for others. Because of these charges, Dennika is being faced with $10,500 in legal fees, which is an impossible amount for her to accommodate in her current circumstance. I’m sure you can imagine what kind of hardship this can put on the mental well-being of a single mother whilst just trying to survive and make it out of an alarming situation. This is where we are asking for your help and support. It would mean the absolute world to us to be able to even cover a fraction of these fees. The breakdown of the legal fees are as follows:

-$5,000 in attorney fees

-$3,500 for bail

-$2,000 for medical professional evaluation
